About the Artist

I am a multi-disciplinary artist from Albuquerque, New Mexico, currently finishing my BFA in Studio Art at the University of New Mexico. I have been drawing, painting, gluing, sewing, and otherwise making gigantic messes with mediums ranging from mud puddles to glitter glue for as long as I can remember. Across all mediums, I enjoy a project I can dig my hands into and feel. I often work with the colors and patterns of the world around me; creating works that express the intricate connections that appear when you zoom in and out of complexities as small as the cells and structures that make up your body, as mundane as the objects strewn across your kitchen counter, or as vast as the galaxies spiralling out across our universe. My process includes intuitive creative responses to my research in biology and cosmology; pattern and surface; mess and connection. The result is often graphic, detailed chalk pastel drawings, sometimes collage, and occasionally oil paint on paper, canvas, and textiles. In my larger projects, I combine Arts-Based research, ecological exploration, deep listening and meditation practices to inform Earth-based sculptures and textile work that is grounded in community building, food sovereignty, and regenerative eco-justice.
